Countdown to the 2019 Doncaster Classic Car & Bike Show

The Doncaster Classic Car & Bike Show is one of the premier classic car & bike events throughout the region and also one of the largest.  Last year we had over 800 vehicles on display covering all eras of motoring and encompassing cars, bikes, commercial vehicles, off road vehicles, military vehicles, modified cars, sports cars and much much more.  We had so many exhibits last year that we have secured even more space for this year’s show.  Don’t forget to book though because demand is always high and it’s definitely an event you don’t want your pride and joy to miss.  If you are planning to visit the show then there is ample parking just across from the showground on the Park & Ride car park.

Now in its 12th year the show is held at the Doncaster Deaf Trust School opposite the racecourse and organised in conjunction with the Doncaster St Georges Rotary club and the Traditional Car Club of Doncaster.  All profits from the show are distributed by the Rotary club to local good causes.  In the past this has included charities, Scout groups, schools, libraries, support groups to name but a few – so not only is it a good day out but a chance for us all to support the local community, whilst enjoying these lovingly kept vehicles and taking a trip down motoring memory lane.

Entertainment

In addition to the displays of vehicles there will be a central arena with a stage.  The stage will play host to a number of activities throughout the day including THE PRETEND BEATLES band and THE MEMPHIS CRUISERS band.  For all the latest information on the entertainment available on the day keep a lookout on the show’s very own facebook page and twitter feed (Links at the top of this page).

Vehicle Judging

2016 Show Vehicles

(800 Cars in 10 minutes)

Well known and respected classic car and bike judge Bill Barrowcliff will once again be judging and presenting the awards at the show. He has previously been involved within this role for the Pre Classic Isle of Man T.T. and many local shows as well such as Luddington and Scunthorpe.

“Last year was my first year at the Doncaster Classic Car & Bike Show doing the Concours a new element for the show with over 800 cars on show + numerous bikes I have a team of judges –

myself my brother Ken he has spent many years Sign writing spraying cars & lorrys also having two classic bikes my third judge is Paul Harrison who teaches in the engineering dept at the North Lindsey Tec college also well known as a mechanic for some of the top riders with the British Supebikes. My format is to pick 6 cars & 6 bikes so later in the afternoon they will be put on show in the main arena where we will pick 3 cars 3 bikes
Trophies to be given 1st, 2nd, 3rd with the 1st place getting a bottle of bubbly
This year there will be an extra trophy for the show bikes”

The Traditional Car Club of Doncaster will also be awarding their Club Awards at the show.  If you are coming to the show as a car club and have pre-booked your own club stand, then you too can join in the acknowledgement of people’s achievements.  Each pre-booked club will receive a trophy from the Show organisers for your club to decide who has the “Best in Club” vehicle on the day.

99th Garrison

“May the Force be with you!”  – Keep your eyes peeled throughout the day and don’t let anyone tell you “these are not the classic cars you are looking for” because the show will be host to the 99th Garrison, a group of Star Wars reenactors who will join in the fun throughout the day on the showfield.  Their mission – The 99th Garrison operates mainly in the Northern part of the United Kingdom, with outposts in the East Midlands, –

North Wales, North West and North Lincolnshire. The Garrison’s primary aim is to raise funds and awareness for charities and worthy causes – and they also turn up at the occasional wedding and birthday party.  Catch them while you can before they go back to a galaxy far, far away……..

Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Dakota

Keep your eyes peeled for our special classic vehicle guest appearing in the sky’s above the showground. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Douglas Dakota C-47 will be making an appearance during the day in its distinctive D-Day stripes and with its unique sound, so be sure to keep your cameras at the ready and give the pilots a wave.

Donny Stigalike

“Some say he prefers the magic roundabout rather than the Nurburgring”, while others say “he was born in a mythical village very close to Barnby Dun that appears once every four years and that he’s exempt from Doncaster’s Council tax rises for reasons known only to the Mayoress!! –

All that we know is that he is called “Donny Stigalike” and that he will be at the 2019 Doncaster Classic Car & Bike Show ….. if his train gets here on time!
